Planned Community at Laguna Lake...Swanky Ideas Circa 1965!

I found an interesting San Luis Obispo property listed on Tuesday's broker's tour. It is a home right on the shores of Laguna Lake with a very nice view of the lake...it's back yard is right to the edge of the lake:

When I went in to take a look at the estate sale listing, I was greated with this view right out the back door. Pretty sweet. As I walked into the kitchen where the listing agent (Doug Dalton of MacNamarra RE) was, he pointed to some old fashioned looking brochures he had lined up on the counter. As I am always interested in community history, I was eager to take a look. These were great vintage pamphlets showing the vision of the Laguna Lake planned community. It was dated 1965 and boy did they have a vision! Water skiing, boating, sandy beaches along different lake "fingers", and little "A" framed cabins in the hills at the south side of the lake. It looked fantastic!

Of course while the neighborhood of Laguna Lake is nice, it isn't the resort I saw drawn and watercolored in these brochures.

This house had the sales office for the whole subdivision. It was very interesting and entertaining.

The house, while totally liveable as it is, definitely needs some updating. It has had some remodeling over the years, but it could use a professional eye to bring it to its potential glory. It is definitely in a nice spot on the lake with that beautiful view. It's priced in the mid 700's and it will be interesting to see what it goes for.

Here's a couple more pictures: First is the back of the house and second is the entrance:

 Well, until next time!

P.S. I would so love a comment...I'm new at this BLOG stuff.
